By Gone Tomorrow
I recorded, mixed, and mastered this project for the band Gone Tomorrow. The goal was to create a version of the song that captured the energy of their live performance while also standing as its own distinct recording. The band wanted a sound similar to “Victoria Park” by Cleo Patrick, so we focused on achieving a raw, glitchy analogue character — especially for the keys.
To get that texture, we ran the signal through a bass fuzz pedal to create an 8-bit, broken-synth style tone. For the drums, the band wanted a contrast between a loud, cathartic chorus and a more drum-machine-like verse. We achieved this using a combination of the Glyn Johns technique and close-miking the kit, then automating levels throughout the song to shape each section.
The mix was kept primarily in mono to maintain a tight, punchy feel inspired by early punk and garage recordings, helping the track hit with the same immediacy as their live shows.
Peformance
Ossyfest Set 2025
For this performance, I briefly stepped in as lead guitarist for a band who had lost their guitarist only two weeks before the show. I was given MP3 demos of the set and asked to either recreate the original parts or write my own. I chose to create my own parts for most of the set to bring something fresh to the performance.
My process involved identifying the key and structure of each track, then repeatedly listening and experimenting on guitar to find parts that best supported the songs. During this short time frame, I also learned “Roll With It” by Oasis for the set.
The performance shown here was only my second time playing with the band, and the first time they heard the parts I had prepared. Due to structural differences between the demos and the live arrangements, much of what I played was a combination of my composed parts and on-the-spot improvisation.
Although this was a temporary project to help the band cover the gig, I left with a body of original material that I’ve since been able to develop and reuse in my own work.

Quarter to Nightmare
By Ben Ruddick
For this project, I recorded a short acoustic performance consisting of vocals, acoustic guitar, and piano. My main priority was ensuring there were no phase issues between the microphones and that the recording captured a clear, natural performance. A small amount of post-processing was applied to help maintain the intended tone of the piece. Below is a snippet of the second verse.
Upcoming Project
By Gone Tomorrow
This is a song I will be recording for Gone Tomorrow where I will be recording, mixing and mastering to achieve their creative vision, as well as inputting my own thought to keep and enhance the live energy of the recording.

City Soundscape
By Joe Martin
This is a soundscape I made for a University Project. Each element of this recording was separately recorded and mixed as saw fit. The aim was to sound like a crossing on a busy road in the rain. I utilised Location Recording and Foley techniques to achieve the end product.
